We’re pumped to announce that Sydney Beer Week is back for its third year! After two huge years of unforgettable events across Sydney Metro, bringing together incredible breweries from all over the country and pairing them with some of Sydney’s best venues, we’re gearing up to do it all again—bigger, bolder, and better.
Sydney Beer Week is all about celebrating great beer, the venues that champion it, and the passionate brewery community that brings the energy, creativity, and excitement to every pour. From tap takeovers and brewers’ dinners to collaborations and one-off experiences, it’s a city-wide celebration that puts Australian beer front and centre.
More details are coming very soon, and venues will shortly be able to register their interest via our Expressions of Interest form.

A major highlight of the week will be the return of the Beer & Brewer Awards, proudly presented in collaboration with Sydney Beer Week. Following an outstanding response last year, the awards will once again unite growers and suppliers, brewers, venues, retailers, and passionate beer connoisseurs under one roof to celebrate the people and businesses that make our industry what it is. The event will take place on 20 October, with venue, ticketing, and launch details to be announced soon.

This year, Sydney Beer Week is thrilled to bring back State of Brews, a city-wide event inviting venues to showcase beers from a nominated Australian state—or even a country from overseas. From NSW, Victoria, WA and Queensland, to the Territories (ACT & NT), the Southern States (SA & Tasmania), plus options for New Zealand or the wider world, each participating venue will pour beers from a different region, giving beer lovers the chance to explore diverse brewing scenes without leaving Sydney.
State of Brews is designed to spark collaboration between venues and brewers, open new conversations, and deliver something truly special for consumers. Launching on 16 October, beers will be pouring from launch night until the kegs are dry. Venues interested in taking part can register via the Expressions of Interest form, while beer lovers should stay tuned for details on where to find these beers on tap.

The Pro-Am returns in 2026 as one of the most exciting and collaborative parts of Sydney Beer Week, proudly supported by Yakima Chief Hops and Cryer Malt. Now in its third year, the Pro-Am is where home brewers step into the spotlight, connecting grassroots creativity with the professional brewing world. Run in partnership with the New South Wales Home Brewers, the competition begins with home brewers submitting beers that are judged within their class, each aligned to a participating commercial brewery. Breweries can get involved by working with the Pro-Am team and selecting a beer they’re excited to produce at scale—side by side with the winning home brewer.
The result is a commercially brewed, kegged beer complete with tap badge, poured for the second and final stage of judging on the rooftop at Hotel Sweeney’s. Here, the public, industry peers, friends, and family cast their votes via secret ballot, turning the event into a lively, inclusive celebration of brewing talent. Equal parts educational, collaborative, and inspiring, the Pro-Am sparks conversations.

Looking ahead to 2026, Sydney Beer Week remains focused on what has always mattered most: community. Our industry continues to evolve, and while we know some breweries are facing real challenges, there is also no shortage of good news. Milestones are still being reached, collaborations continue to flourish, and brewers are pushing boundaries through new ingredients, refined techniques, and sheer ingenuity. It’s this resilience, creativity, and shared passion that keeps Australian beer moving forward.

Peter brings a venue-led perspective as General Manager and Licensee of Hotel Sweeney’s, and whilst starting his career in hospitality as a chef he brings over 30 years of experience, while Josh brings 15 years of experience both in the UK and Australia working across the independent beer landscape and now within a national supplier. Together, Sydney Beer Week exists to bring people together, spark collaboration, and celebrate the people, places, and ideas that make our industry what it is. We’re excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to share it with you.
